     Facilities Manager

    Facilities manager plays an important role in the overall welfare of the property.

    Career Definition

    A Facilities Manager’s job duties include understanding, coordinating, implementing and monitoring of the maintenance department, operating systems of the property, construction practices, energy management, preventive maintenance and safety practices. To coordinate the operational aspects of the property in a manner which protects, maintains and improves the value of the asset. Facility manager are ought to have knowledge of building systems, HVAC, plumbing and electrical with the ability to communicate effectively, supervise, train and direct employees. A facilities manager performs, coordinate and monitor all tasks concerning property within efficient budgeted cost in compliance of local, state, and federal codes and regulations.

    How to Become a Facilities Manager

    Required Education

    Associate’s degree or some vocational/ technical training required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

    Skill Required

    Facilities Manager is required to have a minimum of two to three years experience in the property management industry with technical experience and knowledge of property physical systems. One must be able to create monthly reports/yearly budget via Microsoft excel/word/powerpoint. Manager should be able to handle crisis management and recovery such as power failure, fire evacuation, security breach and etc.

    Engineer

    HVAC engineers play an important role in the building industry, ensuring proper climate control of homes, office buildings, and other facilities.

    An HVAC engineer’s job duties can include the design, installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, cooling, and refrigeration systems.
