    Penang Women’s Development Corporation (PWDC) is a state-funded body established to mainstream gender into the policies and programmes of all sectors in the state of Penang.  PWDC works in smart partnership with all levels of the Penang state and local governments, non-governmental and community-based organisations, the academe, the private sector and the public.

    PROGRAMME OFFICER – TAMIL LANGUAGE & LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT (WEL)

    Roles of the Programme Officer:

    – Working closely with the WEL Programme Manager and other programme staff to create substantive content for a Tamil Language portfolio under the programme, including various types of activities such as trainings, forums, press conferences, and so on.

    – Where so assigned, to conduct activities such as trainings and talks in the Tamil Language and/or in Bahasa Malaysia.

    – Drafting substantive written content in the Tamil Language, including official speeches, press statements, articles and so on.

    – Preparing written and/or oral translations of relevant English and Bahasa Malaysia materials into the Tamil Language.

    – Managing communications with volunteers of PWDC, in particular for all WEL Programme activities, where relevant.

    – Manage the overall filing and documentation system of the WEL Programme, and supporting other WEL staff in this regard.

    – Managing the logistical arrangements in organising all activities of the WEL Programme, and in particular:

    (a)  Liaising with partner organisations, service providers and suppliers on all logistical matters

    (b)  Liaising with activity participants, including for pre-registration of participants, and providing concise updates and reports on these to the team

    (c)   Liaising with the media / press, including circulating and following up on press invitations and attending to press registration, as well as tracking of news after the event

    (d)  Setting up and overseeing function areas for activities, including registration desk, backdrop, streamers, audio-visual equipment, dining area and meal arrangements, materials and stationery for trainers and participants, and liaising with all relevant service providers as necessary

    – Overseeing photographic and/or videographic documentation of all activities under the WEL Programme

    – Liaising (on behalf of the WEL Programme) with all other relevant staff of PWDC and acting as the logistics and administrative focal point for the Programme

    – Any other work assigned by the PWDC Chair, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the WEL Programme Manager as and when necessary.

    Required Qualification, Skill & Experience:

    – Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a relevant field.

    – Good written and spoken proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia or English.

    – Good written and spoken in Tamil.

    – Display good teamwork, maturity, respectfulness for diverse opinions, responsibility, integrity and a willingness to learn.

    – Display a strong interest and commitment to gender equality, social justice, and women’s empowerment and leadership.

    – Possess own transport.

    – Be willing to work on weekends when required (replacement leave will be given for work outside regular office hours).

    – Experience in working with local communities in organizing social or public events is preferable.

    SENIOR EXECUTIVE OFFICER (SEO) – ADMINISTRATION, HUMAN RESOURCE & FINANCE

    Roles of the Programme Officer:

    The SEO will be a full-time appointment to work closely with the Chief Executive Officer in the areas of Administration, Human Resources and Finance.

    Required Qualification, Skill & Experience:

    – Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree, Professional Degree, Business Studies/Administration/Management or its equivalent.

    – At least 5 year(s) relevant working experience in organizational administration, human resources and finance.

    – Skills in effective, clear and persuasive oral and written communication in both Bahasa Malaysia and English.

    – Knowledge of MS Office including accounting software.

    – Good interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills.

    – Personal traits that includes independence, competence and a degree of integrity.

    SHORT-TERM CONTRACT – ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (3 months)

    Roles of the Programme Officer:

    – Provide support and  assistance in performing clerical duties, such as filing and  photocopying .

    – Compile and maintain an up-to-date directory of telephone numbers and addresses for the organisation

    – Ensure the office area, pantry area and meeting room are kept clean and organised.

    – Provide receptions services – greet and assist visitors in a courteous manner, answer phones and record messages accurately; including directing calls and responding to inquiries.

    – Assist in making appointments.

    – Provide logistical support for all programme staff in the organisation and in the preparation of all workshops, meetings and events.

    – Assisting in the finance related matters – compilation of invoices, preparation of payment vouchers and petty cash vouchers, data entry of accounts and report preparations.

    – Perform all other clerical duties upon request.

    – Any other work assigned by the Chief Executive Officer as and when necessary.

    Required Qualification, Skill & Experience:

    – STPM or Diploma, preferably in a relevant field.

    – Good written and spoken proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia or English.

    – Display good teamwork, maturity, respectfulness for diverse opinions, responsibility, integrity and a willingness to learn.

    – Possess own transport.

    – Be willing to work on weekends when required (replacement leave will be given for work outside regular office hours).
