Purchasing Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
Assures the continuous on-time flow of quality material to ensure the scheduled production and shipment of customer deliverable products. Minimizes company inventory, including all purchased, work-in-process and finished goods. Builds relationships with suppliers to establish and achieve reduced lead time, quality, delivery, and cost goals. Develops and manages all processes related to the accomplishment of the above.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Manages, controls, and directs the purchasing, material pipeline and inventory control functions.
- Recruits, develops, and leads an organization capable of managing and growing with the requirements of the company.
- Ensures timely delivery of goods at the most economical cost.
- Ensures adequate supply and efficient movement of materials.
- Identifies all customers in the materials “value chain” and manages the relationship to achieve satisfaction.
- Forecasts plans for anticipated materials requirements through the analysis of marketing information. Works on custom supply solutions to reduce dependence on MRP as a tool for replenishment.
- Reviews production schedules to ensure the availability of materials.
- Maintains the integrity of system data required to successfully accomplish the materials management function.
- Tracks and manages all inventory to achieve agreed upon turnover and level goals.
- Develops and manages all financial budgets and targets required to accomplish the materials management function.
- Tracks and manages On-time Delivery (OTD) for deliveries from suppliers.
- Works with purchasing and the supply base to ensure timely deliveries of material for production.
- Other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Works in a noisy and fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Also works in standard office environment and uses general office equipment.
SKILLS:
- Experience with a variety of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems. Imaginative application of custom supply solutions to reduce non-value portion of material procurement.

EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of five years experience in manufacturing and materials management.
- Experience with self directed work groups or team facilitation.
- Experience with SAP preferred.
- CPM, CPIM,CIPS or APICs certifications preferred.
