Venue: Week Beginning Friday April 15th

The Death of George Town, on Friday 15th, gives you a second chance to see the short films Ryan Anderson made for last year’s George Town Festival. Each film is a vignette of someone who lives or works in the City, from Elyas who opened a vintage barbershop to Mrs. Tan who desperately needed back surgery but wouldn’t stop cooking char kuey teow. Other free films on offer this week include the Siam-Burma Death Railway, a documentary about the construction of the railway during World War II, and the suffering and deaths of the workers who built it, on Saturday 16th, and Great Malaysian Movies: Man Who Saved The World (2014) on Tuesday 19th and Return to Nostalgia (2015) on Wednesday 20th.

In Cello and Piano Fantasy on Saturday 16th, talented cellist Yoshiko Ikemura and award-winning pianist, Tomonari Tsuchiya will play Shumann, Rachmaninov, Beethoven and more. And don’t forget there are a few more performances on offer of the Merchant of Venice, as KL-based Shakespeare Demystified performs Shakespeare’s most controversial play, in a shortened, simplified and informal fashion that loses nothing of the power of the original play.
